Volunteers Needed for Fall Cap & Gown Reception

The inaugural Cap & Gown reception for our spring UHD graduation candidates was a huge success! The students greatly enjoyed celebrating this milestone with UHD alumni, faculty and staff who could relate to their experiences and appreciate the University's impact on their futures.

Next month, UHD will host the second edition of the Cap & Gown Reception in honor of our fall graduation candidates. On Nov. 22 and 23, we invite alumni to volunteer as hosts to help make this event successful and memorable for these UHD students. During the reception, graduation candidates will be inducted as alumni, learn about becoming involved former students, receive information about commencement, pick up their caps and gowns, and enjoy light refreshments.

We are asking for alumni, faculty and staff volunteers to serve as hosts, assist in cap and gown distribution, attend our decorating table and other similar duties. There will be two receptions to accommodate the nearly 1,400 candidates this fall. The first will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, to honor graduates from the College of Sciences and Technology, University College, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The second reception will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, for students from the College of Public Service and the College of Business. About 45 volunteers are needed at each reception, which will begin in the Coffee House, move to the Auditorium, and end in A300.
