Urban Ed Now Offering High School Teaching Certification
This spring, the Department of Urban Education in conjunction with the English, math, science and history departments will initiate its new Secondary Teacher Preparation Program (STPP). This program is designed to allow participants to prepare for and obtain certification as a 7-12 grade teacher in one of the four core subjects listed above.
The Department encourages students interested in becoming teachers, especially in the math and science fields, to explore the numerous scholarship and financial aid opportunities available. In addition, students have the opportunity, with careful planning, to complete the requirements for graduation in 120 hours. Unlike alternative certification programs, the STPP provides students with three semesters of experience working with 7-12 grade students before graduation. This experience gives students an advantage when applying for jobs after graduation.
Interested students should contact urban education advisor Terrilyn Ratcliff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 713 221-2759 to obtain more information.
