Houston Greeters is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization that showcases Houston's cultural diversity by offering free tours of the city. According to Mayor Annise Parker, the greeters "offer a unique insight to Houston for newcomers, those looking to move here, residents and visitors."

The event aims to promote METRO ridership and support of the thriving small businesses along the railway.

Tickets can be purchased online or by cash or check at the UHD South Deck on the evening of the event.
