University Theatre to Present Student-Directed Plays This Week

The University Theatre will present 16 student-directed one-act plays Thursday, Nov. 19-21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. in the O'Kane Theatre.

Each evening the theater will present five to six plays directed by students enrolled in the Directing and Stage Management course (DRA 3332).

In addition to a musical and original scripts written by the students, these one-act play scripts will feature scenes from classical plays and contemporary plays.

Admission is free and seating is on a first-come basis. Students will have an opportunity to sign in if they are attending for class credit.

Below is a full list of play titles and performance dates:

Thursday, Nov. 19 - 8 p.m.

  • The Odd Couple
  • La Pareja Rara (The Odd Couple, female version, presented in Spanish)
  • It's Too Late
  • February to August
  • The Philadelphia
  • Danny and the Deep Blue Sea

Friday, Nov. 20 - 8 p.m.

  • You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running: the shock of recognition
  • Los Vendidos
  • Sure Thing
  • Mere Mortals
  • The Odd Couple

Saturday, Nov. 21 - 8 p.m.

  • I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change
  • 1x1=1, pero 1+1=2 by Lucia Quintero (presented in Spanish)
  • The Florist
  • The Glass Menagerie
  • Variations of the Death of Trotsky

Sunday, Nov. 22 - 3 p.m. (Matinee)

  • It's Too Late
  • La Pareja Rara (The Odd Couple, female version, presented in Spanish)
