University Theatre Presents Shakespearean Classic
The University Theatre will present William Shakespeare's delightful romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, as its Fall 2013 production.
Written around 1598, the story takes place in a courtly world that is enjoying a period of carnival and features elements of eavesdropping, mistaken identities, game-playing, music, song, dance, feasting and marriage. Because of its gleeful nature and memorable characters, such as Beatrice, Benedick and Dogberry, the play is a perennial favorite of professional, regional, community and educational theaters alike.
The production is set in an early 19th century California abode by director Kate Pogue, UHD drama lecturer and Shakespeare specialist, in order to resonate with the modern audience.
