University Theatre News, Awards and Play Announcements

The University Theatre recently announced its plays for the 2013-2014 season. In the fall, they will present Francis Goodrich and Albert Hackett's soul-wrenching, yet spirit-lifting play "The Diary of Anne Frank" and the traditional weekend of student-directed One Acts.

In the spring, the Theatre will present William Shakespeare's delightful comedic romp "Much Ado about Nothing" and the newly established tradition of Lunch Time Theatre.

Two special workshops will also be held next season, every Friday for six weeks: a Stage Makeup workshop in the fall and a Stage Combat workshop in the spring.

The 2013-2014 academic year will conclude with a drama trip to Las Vegas in May.

The Theatre also recently hosted it's annual Drama Awards banquet. The following students were recognized for their outstanding performances this season: Aelohim Balthrop was honored as Best Actor for his role as John Proctor in "The Crucible;" Lindsey Ball was honored as Best Actress for her role as Rebecca Nurse in "The Crucible;" and April Gamble was honored as Best Techie for her costume maintenance work on "The Crucible."
