To begin the Fall 2013 season, the UHD O'Kane Gallery will feature "Balancing Acts," an exhibit by Amita Bhatt from Sept. 5 through Oct. 17.

Originally from India, Bhatt is deeply inspired by the violence she witnessed during the Mumbai riots of 1992. Therefore, her work is "anchored in the historic and global phenomenon of geographic and identity politics." With vibrant color "charged with primal energy" and dramatic compositions, she combines mythology and happenstance to explore the multiplicities of the human condition - benevolent and evil.

The Gallery will host an opening reception from 6-8 p.m Sept. 5.
