UHD's Houston PREP Hosts Career Day and Awards Ceremony

UHD's Houston PREP (HP) students have been busy this summer. On Thursday, July 14, students participated in HP's Engineering/Career Day, visiting labs on campus and working with professionals from Marathon Oil, Center Point Energy, Cameron, KBR and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

HP also held an awards ceremony on Friday, July 22, at which Houston Council Member Melissa Noriega presented students with certificates from the City of Houston. Richard Alo, HP director and professor of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, and other HP instructors also presented awards. Former Texas state representative, Col. Richard Noriega, was the keynote speaker.

Houston PREP's goal is to enhance the academic backgrounds of socially and economically disadvantaged middle and high school students and to encourage them into science, technology, engineering and mathematical careers.
