UHD’s 72nd Commencement Ceremonies Set For May 15
The achievements of more than 1,600 University of Houston-Downtown students will be celebrated during two ceremonies at the 72nd Commencement on Sunday, May 15, at NRG Stadium.
Ceremonies at Noon feature graduates of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Sciences & Technology, and College of Public Service, and at 4 p.m. for the Marilyn Davies College of Business and University College.
“Our graduates will remember this moment because it serves as the capstone to their academic achievements,” UHD President Loren J. Blanchard said.
Texas Senator John Whitmire will deliver remarks during the noon ceremony. Graduates will also hear from one of their own, Gabriela Medina, who is graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Post-graduation, Medina wants to earn a master’s degree and pursue a career as a health care social worker.
The 4 p.m. ceremony will feature City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner as the keynote speaker. Gator Alum Sebastian Troitino, who is graduating with a Master of Business Administration degree, is the student speaker.
