UHD's 66th Commencement to Take Place Saturday, May 18

The University of Houston Downtown (UHD) will confer degrees to 1,400 graduates during morning and afternoon ceremonies for the 66th Commencement at Minute Maid Park (501 Crawford St.) on May 18. Event details are as follows:

Morning Ceremony

College of Business and College of Public Service

  • Student Check-In begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • Commencement Ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

Afternoon Ceremony

College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Science & Technology, and University College

  • Student Check-In begins at 2:30 p.m.
  • Commencement Ceremony begins at 4 p.m.

International best-selling author, entrepreneur and award-winning film producer Chris Gardner and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis will share their stories of success with graduates. Gardner will serve as the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. ceremony. Ellis is the highlighted speaker for the 4 p.m. commencement.

In addition, Safia Kuzu, who will earn a Bachelor of Social Work, will serve as the student speaker for the morning ceremony, while student Nicolas Flores, who will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, will address fellow graduates at the late afternoon commencement.
