UHD Wrestling Club Hosts NCWA Texas State Duals Feb. 1
For the second consecutive year, the UHD wrestling club team is hosting the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) Texas State Duals on Saturday, Feb. 1.
The Texas State Duals feature the top collegiate club teams in Texas, which includes universities and colleges such as Texas A&M University, Schreiner University, Richland College, and the UHD. The event is structured as a round robin tournament where every team faces off head to head versus each team in up to 10 weight classes for the men, and up to 8 weight classes for the women. The team with the best record at the end of the tournament will be crowned the Texas State Duals Champions.
UHD wrestling club head coach Tim Sykes in his third season will have his squad ready to compete against some of the toughest competition in the state. The UHD club team is led by President Jermal Sanders and features many new faces this season. For this new season, All-American Jasmin Olvera returns from the women’s team.
Wrestling will commence on Saturday at 9:30am in the UHD Jesse H. Jones Student Life Center. The event also will be live streamed on Facebook LIVE on the UHD Sports & Fitness Facebook webpage.
