The pandemic and Hurricane Laura’s anticipation and preparation hasn’t stopped a more than 30-year UHD tradition of Welcome Week!

Originally set for August 24 – 28, the new reboot—Welcome Week 2.0: September 8 – 11—is still full of activities including the Drive-In Movie event featuring Marvel’s “Black Panther.”

Welcome Week is a collaboration with the Office of Student Activities — in partnership with other departments including, Sports & Fitness, Office of Disability Services, Main Career Center, Student Counseling, Veterans Services, Dean of Students Office, Student Government Association, Center for Student Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, UHD Police, Facilities Management and UHD Northwest.

“Despite the new normal surrounding our nation, state and University, we have prepared an amazing week of events to help acclimate those who are new and returning to the Gator Family,” said Tremaine Kwasikpui, Director of Student Activities. “We have a great week planned this fall. All are invited to network with fellow Gators, enjoy activities and amazing prizes. I’m so proud of my colleagues and departments for making such a meaningful week.”

As always, all Welcome Week activities are open to all students; however, some events have a maximum cap of 50 – 100 students. Overall, Kwasikpui expects at least a minimum of 1,000 to join during the all-virtual events.
