In June 2017, University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) students participated in geosciences research, in Galveston Bay, led by the University of Houston (UH). The research involved collecting sub-bottom profiler data, and a type of shallow seismic to characterize seafloor sediments. The project, led by Dr. Julia Wellner, UH assistant professor, Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, Glacial Processes. UHD students, Raza Mir and Itzel Cardenas, participated along with several UH graduate students.
