President's Message: UHD Strong ... Your Gift Matters

Dear UHD Alumni, Faculty, Staff and Friends,

The University of Houston-Downtown prides itself on its tenacity, drive and commitment to serve our community, state, nation-and one another. Following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, we are coming together to do what UHD is known for-giving back. It has been incredibly inspiring to witness the tremendous outpouring of support by so many. I know that some of you were personally affected, and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Many of you have expressed concern for the UHD community and have asked how you can support UHD students who have experienced personal losses.

We have created the Gator Relief Fund to provide support for students who have experienced severe hardship because of Hurricane Harvey. Choose “Gator Relief Fund” in the dropdown menu. Funds will provide assistance with replacing textbooks, supplies, technology, and for other immediate education-related needs.

Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers to UHD and the Houston community. We will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 5, following Labor Day. Until then and beyond, we remain UHD Strong.

With regards and best wishes,

Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz
UHD President
