Dear UHD Community,

Houston – and the state of Texas – has its first World Series Championship team. Our Houston Astros are the best in baseball and have elevated the spirit of our city.

Tomorrow, a celebration parade is scheduled for downtown Houston, so I encourage faculty, staff and students to once again wear their work-appropriate Astros gear to campus.

I’m proud that our institution has a strong relationship with this team. Annually, Minute Maid Ballpark hosts our commencement ceremonies, and each fall, the stadium hosts “UHD Night” in which our community attends a ballgame.

A World Series victory is rewarding for our community, and is particularly meaningful for UHD considering our proximity to the ballpark and our relationship with the team.

I look forward to seeing your best orange and blue tomorrow.
