UHD Police Lieutenant Frederick Varela and Officer Roxanne Cardona recently visited Herod Elementary School in Houston Independent School District to read to students.

Varela, who knows many educators in HISD, was invited by teacher Mr. Ligon of Herod Elementary to read to his special education class.

"The children were wonderful," said Varela. "They were so curious and full of questions about us, our equipment and being a police officer. We hope to go back very soon."
