UHD Now Offers Seat Availability Notification

UHD is piloting Seat Availability Notifications which allows students to sign up for alerts when seats open in the course sections they are interested in. This new tool is accessible from the Class Schedule and is only available for sections with a "Closed" status.

Important Facts about Seat Availability Notification

Notifications can only be requested through e-services and will be sent to the Gator-mail and personal e-mail addresses on file.

Please be aware of the following:

  • Signing up to receive an alert does not impact a student's eligibility for a course or ability to register for classes.
  • Only one notification will be sent per section and seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Once registration closes for a term, notifications cannot be sent.

Pilot Details

The Seat Availability Notification tool launched Monday, Aug. 20 for the Fall 2012 term and will close on the last day of registration. Given there are only two weeks left in the fall registration period, a mass communication to students regarding the new Seat Availability Notification tool is being delayed until Spring 2013 registration opens. However, we expect that some students will use the tool and this will give us a chance to make any revisions to its functionality or the information provided about the notification before spring registration opens.

Impact to Fall 2012 Sections

Please be aware that this notification tool is not currently intended to make scheduling decisions regarding new sections and course availability. There is some reporting available to the Registrar's Office which may allow us to know which sections are being targeted for notification. However, this pilot will help us learn how we may fully benefit from the tool and therefore faculty and staff should not be concerned with how this tool will impact sections and course schedules at this time.
