UHD Neighbor, Saint Arnold Brewing Co., Sponsors Gallery Opening

WP_20130320_006As previously reported, the O'Kane Gallery's latest exhibit, "Big Red," opened Wednesday, March 20. A reception, sponsored by Saint Arnold Brewing Company, was held in the Gallery to commemorate the opening.

"Big Red" is a collection of work from 15 alumni from the nationally-ranked ceramics education program at the University of Nebraska. The pieces selected reflect a broad spectrum of ceramics - from pieces that are beautiful yet utilitarian to others that are technically complex and challenging.

"Big Red" is one of the more than 100 exhibitions being held in the Greater Houston area in conjunction with the 47th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramics Arts (NCECA). The opening reception drew more than 100 visitors from UHD and around the country in Houston for the NCECA Conference.

The Saint Arnold Brewing Company, which is located less than a mile from UHD's campus, provided refreshments for the opening, including both root beer and a Belgian-style Pale Ale that embraced the "Big Red" theme with its distinctive Saint Arnold Icon red packaging.

The exhibit will be on display in the O'Kane Gallery through April 18.
