UHD NCBI Hosts Confidential Grief Support in Wake of Orlando Tragedy

In the wake of the horror in Orlando, the UHD National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) Campus Team on Monday, June 13 activated its Emergency Listening Table Program to provide a confidential listening ear for members of the campus community as we attempt to come to grips with this senseless loss of life.

The NCBI Team is a group of UHD community members who offer NCBI programming on campus through the Center for Student Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Listening Tables offer a safe, sensitive, and non-judgmental venue in which to express thoughts and feelings about the tragic events in Orlando in an effort to help each other move forward. Listening Tables are staffed by UHD volunteers who stand ready to provide you with an attentive, judgment-free, and confidential listening ear.

A Listening Table will continue to be available through the end of the week in front of the food court at the following times and dates: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16; and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17.

For questions, please contact John Hudson, Director - Center for Student Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, or at 713-221-8664.

We stand ready to listen.
