UHD MBA Program Named Finalist for International Award

The MBA Roundtable, a global association of business schools, has honored UHD's MBA Program as one of four finalists for its 2014-2015 Innovator Award. The competition drew 32 nominations from schools on three continents and includes some of the best-known programs in the nation.

"Given the caliber of schools that submitted entries for the Innovator Award, we are extremely gratified to have been selected as one of four finalists," said Mike Fields, dean of the College of Business. "It speaks to the innovative practices we have incorporated into the UHD MBA program."

Comments by the MBA Roundtable judges included that UHD's MBA Program has a "solid industry focus and emphasis on 'reality-based education' [and a] good approach directly involving [the] corporate community in curriculum design and teaching." Anne Ferrante, executive director of the MBA Roundtable, said in an e-mail that UHD "was viewed as a stellar example of a comprehensive approach and methodology to design a very contemporary, relevant curriculum."

Fields reported that MBA Roundtable representatives have expressed interest in continuing communications with COB leadership to learn more about our innovative practices and potentially to distribute information about our program to the entire MBA Roundtable membership.

In addition, the COB recently hosted four members of a well-established MBA program team from outside the region. The school has become aware of the innovative nature of the UHD program and requested a site visit. Following a 1½-day visit, the visitors noted in a correspondence, "Our ability to directly interface with the many constituent groups supporting and/or learning in the corporate-driven MBA program went way beyond our hopes — thank you for orchestrating such a meaningful and informative experience. Your team is polished, passionate and clearly very good at what they do."
