UHD Launches New Social Media Campaigns

Gator GatewayThis week, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) community can begin participating in three new social media initiatives.

On Tuesdays, UHD's social media team will be seeking feedback from students as part of its #GatorVoices initiative. Students will be asked to participate in short "man on the street" video interviews that will be shared through the University's social media channels.

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 31, students are encouraged to wear official UHD Gator gear as part of #WearItWednesday. The contest is designed to engage the UHD community and promote school spirit. To participate, students must wear official UHD attire on Wednesday and follow the UHD Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. Winners will receive exclusive UHD T-shirts and gift bags packed with Gator giveaways.

Here's how #WearItWednesday works:

  • Follow the location clues via social media. Location clues are given out on different platforms each time, so you must follow all three platforms to increase your chances of winning.
  • Find the UHD social media team at the identified location to claim your prize.

And everyone on campus is encouraged to turn the campus blue on Fridays. Show your school pride by wearing UHD's official colors and be sure to share photos using the hashtag #GatorBlueFriday.

"We're very excited to engage students with these campaigns," said Toni Carter, Communications Manager. "Our goal is to build school spirit and use social media as a communication tool to connect with the student body."
