University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) Interim President Michael A. Olivas will present the 2016 Justice Robert D. Rucker Lecture at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, at Valparaiso University Law School, Valparaiso, Indiana.

In his lecture, "How Did We Get Here? Undocumented Lawyers and Occupational Licensing," Olivas will share results from a national study on immigration and occupational licensing, review many of the state eligibility statutes for licensed professional practices, and note the unique and complex challenges that unauthorized immigrants face.
