Society Blog Austin: Professor Gene Preuss is mentioned in an article titled "Texas tiles to sample at summers' end." Gene Preuss is a history professor at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD).

Houston Press: UHD professor Floyd Newsum is featured in an article titled, "New Washington, D.C. Museum to Open with Art by Houstonian Floyd Newsum." The article talks about After the storm CNN, a painting by Newsum that is part of the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture, set to open on September 24.

Houston Chronicle: Richard Selvera, director of veteran services at UHD, and Patrick Jefferson, assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students, is mentioned in an article regarding food pantries on Houston college campuses.
