HoustonNewcomerGuides.com: The online publication shared information about the UHD visit by Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, Staff Sgt. Ty Carter, hosted by the Office of Veterans Services.

Houston Chronicle (subscriber site), Private Officer Breaking News (blog), Officer.com: A Houston Chronicle investigation found thousands of Houston-area police officers report to work each day without proper certification that they are mentally fit for duty. UHD Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, Larry Karson, is quoted.

Houston Style Magazine, University Business Magazine: Both publications covered the Latino Education Summit III: Working for Change, an initiative focused on boosting Hispanic student achievement and career attainment. Maria Bhattacharjee, UHD associate professor of urban education, was one of several representatives from organizations committed to supporting Hispanic achievement through resources and operations.
