UHD Hosted METRO North Line Grand Opening

Houston METRO celebrated the grand opening of the newly complete North Line Saturday, Dec. 21, at UHD. The expanded line runs from UHD to the Northline Commons, which is located just north of Crosstimbers. The 5.3-mile extension runs along Main and Fulton streets and cost $756 million, making the entire Red Line nearly 13 miles.

Present at the ribbon cutting were President William Flores, METRO employees and local dignitaries including Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, METRO Board Chair Gilbert Garcia, former Mayor Lee Brown and State Rep. Carol Alvarado.

UHD has looked forward to the opening of the new line, which will provide students greater access to the Houston area and make attending the University more convenient for more Houstonians.
