UHD Food Fair Will Supply Free Groceries on January 23

The University of Houston-Downtown will host a Food Fair on Saturday, Jan. 23. Starting at 1 p.m., UHD students, faculty and staff may obtain free groceries during a drive-by pickup while supplies last. The event will be held on Girard Street between the UHD Police Station and Visitor Parking Lot.

No donations are needed, although volunteers are welcome. Event organizers request assistance between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to sort items, bag groceries, place bags in vehicles, coordinate registration and handle other jobs as needed. Volunteers may sign up by emailing studentactivities@uhd.edu.

The Food Fair is part of UHD’s Welcome Week activities, which started on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The week is an opportunity to introduce new and greet returning Gators. Welcome Week’s overall purpose is to provide programming that will assist with connecting students to peers, faculty, staff, student organizations and resources on and off the campus.
