UHD Co-Sponsors Summer Workshop

art workThe University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is co-sponsoring the HDHEART Consortium 14th Annual Disparities on Health in America: Working Toward Social Justice summer workshop, June 20 - 25 in Robertson Auditorium.

The workshop provides a comprehensive understanding of health disparities, investigates approaches to enhancing health equity, and teaches participants to take a biopsychosocial approach toward addressing health disparities in minority and medically underserved populations.

Keynote speakers include Maureen Y. Lichtveld, M.D., M.P.H., president, Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools Professor and Department Chair of Global Environmental Health Sciences, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine; and Camara Jones, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., president, American Public Health Association. Also scheduled to participate are representatives from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and from the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Cardiovascular Research Institute of the Morehouse School of Medicine.
