UHD Club Sports Teams Open Season with Big Wins

UHD's Wrestling Club continued their impressive season, Sunday, Feb. 7 with a dominating performance at the 2016 Maverick Collegiate Open at UT-Arlington. Thomas Mancha brought home a first-place finish in the men's 197 weight class after defeating David Wojcicki from the University of North Texas (UNT). Christopher Woods captured first place in the men's 285 weight class by defeating BJ Sterling, also from UNT.

Other results included Kavrin Cox earning second place in the men's 285 weight class, Devon Jackson earning third place in the men's 125 weight class, Ryan Tse earning third place in the men's 285 weight class, and Islam Nabulsi earning fourth place in the men's 149 weight class.

This is only the second season in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association for the UHD wrestling club team.

UHD Women's Volleyball

Looking to repeat as champions of the Houston Sport Club Conference, the UHD women's volleyball club opened their season on Feb. 10 with bang. The volleyball team swept Lone Star College-North Harris in a dominating fashion on the road: 25-14, 25-9, 25-7. The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the UHD Student Life Center. UHD will face off against North American University.

UHD Men's Basketball Club Team

UHD's men's basketball club team started off their spring 2016 season with a thrilling 40-47 victory against defending champions, Rice University's Rice Owls. The team played in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the UHD Student Life Center. After trailing by five points in the second half with just over six minutes remaining, the team was able to climb back into the game and secure a win.

UHD Men's and Women's Soccer Club Teams

Saturday, Feb. 13, the UHD men's and women's soccer club teams picked up dominating wins to continue conference play in the Lone Star Sport Club Conference. The UHD men's soccer club team defeated HCC-Northwest, 5-0, and the UHD women's soccer club team defeated the defending champion, Lone Star College-North Harris by 7-0.
