UHD Bids Farewell to Chief Boyle

The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) will celebrate outgoing UHD Chief of Police, Rick Boyle, with a reception, Wednesday, May 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Special Events Room, A300.

Chief Boyle, who has served UHD with distinction since 2000, was tapped as the new Chief of Police for the City of Galveston. He will leave UHD for his new post later this month.

During his tenure, Chief Boyle has done much to advance police operations. In addition to restructuring the department, he increased the level of training required of UHD officers and taken other actions to elevate operations. Under his direction, UHD expanded the access control and video technology.

Chief Boyle spent the first 22 years of his law enforcement career as a member of the Galveston Police Department. This prestigious new position will enable him to finish out his career with the agency that gave him his start.

UHD is immediately beginning the search for Chief Boyle's replacement. In the interim, Lt. David DeLeon, who has been with the UHD Police Department since 1993, has agreed to serve as Interim Chief.
