UHD Baseball Wins First Conference Championship
For the first time in its program's history, the UHD baseball club team captured the Rocky Lone Star South Conference Championship in the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). Last weekend, the Gators needed to win four games to secure the championship.
UHD defeated Lone Star College-Cy Fair by a score of 7-6 on Saturday, and then swept Texas Christian University in three games to conclude a perfect 4-0 weekend. UHD baseball finishes the regular season with their best record in program history at 15-6 (15-3 in conference).
By winning the conference championship, the team earned a berth to the NCBA Regional Playoffs May 3-5 at Veterans Memorial Complex in Hobbs, New Mexico. UHD joins conference champions U.S Air Force Academy, Metro State University in Denver, Colorado, and fellow conference mate and at-large bid winner Texas A&M-Corps of Cadets. The four teams will compete in a double elimination tournament with a berth to the NCBA Division II World Series. The NCBA Division II World Series is slated for May 17-21 at Jaycee Ballpark in Pittsburg, Kansas.
