UHD and the Butterfly Project

In October, the Butterfly Project, a collaboration of UHD and the citywide Citizenship Month Artist Initiative, arranged for origami butterfly workshops to be taught at Houston schools, such as Harmony School of Advancement and Harmony School of Excellence, and nonprofit organizations, such as the Raindrop Foundation and the French Consulate of Houston.

Each participant made at least two origami butterflies on which they wrote positive messages of hope and encouragement. These butterflies, symbolizing freedom, diversity, transformation and strength, will be displayed as art installations at schools, City Hall, Houston Public Library locations and the Asia Society Texas Center.
