UHD and College of Public Service Honor Retirees

Monday, May 16, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) College of Public Service celebrated the distinguished careers of five Urban Education colleagues with a retirement reception attended by over 60 faculty, staff and friends.

The honorees, Viola Garcia, Robert Johnson, Debra Mullinnix, Janice Nath and Jane Thielemann-Downs were all gifted with geared toward their personality or interests. Attendees signed the book to make it a "living card' to remember the event.

"We celebrated our friends, and through our messages in books chosen to represent key aspects of their lives, reflected together about our life paths; who we are, and what we will become as the future unfolds," said Leigh Van Horn, dean of the UHD College of Public Service.

Collectively, the retirees have served more than 100 years at UHD.
