UHD & Saint Arnold Brewing Co. Welcome 3K for the Art Car IPA 5K!
By Laura Wagner
On Sunday, April 2, more than 3,000 runners, walkers, wheelers, and strollers laced up their trainers and gathered at Saint Arnold Brewing Company for the Saint Arnold Art Car IPA 5K fun run.
The 70-degree, lightly overcast day offered the perfect setting for participants, who showed their true colors in the bright yellow, dry-fit-style shirt in their race packets. A live band provided the soundtrack for the run while UHD volunteers handed out rally towels, a tote bag, and more Gator goodies.
Finishers also received a custom-designed SaintArnold’s Art Car IPA 5K 2023 medal (fourth in a five-year series), which prominently features the UHD logo. A pint glass and beer were also part of the package for over-21 participants.
After crossing the finish line, participants celebrated at the post-race party, where local DJ Nick Danger (Nicholas Martinez) donated time and equipment to provide the soundtrack for the celebration.
Shout out to all the UHD volunteers who showed up to make the event a success and represent UHD to the Houston running community! Michael Manuel, UHD Marketing Manager, led the charge as UHD’s project manager for the event. “What makes this event so fun,” said Manuel, “is that it brings the Houston community together with UHD students and alum as well as faculty and staff. The University is represented by both participants and volunteers, so it really is an opportunity to showcase UHD, its people, and its location as an essential part of Houston’s Downtown.”
In 2024, Saint Arnold will celebrate 10 years of fun runs (five years of Art Car IPA 5Ks) with a new 10K distance. Mark your calendar for Sunday, April 7, 2024—or go ahead and register now to get an early bird discount. Additional race information is available at http://www.artcar5k.com.
