Theatre Showcases Singing and Dancing Talent with 'Smokey Joe's Cafe'

By: Mary Ann Cozza

Prepare to be entertained! The UHD O'Kane Theatre will present "Smokey Joe's Cafe," a smash 1995 Broadway hit musical, for 10 performances beginning Friday, Oct. 26, through Saturday, Nov. 3.

The production features the words and music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and includes memorable songs like "Searchin'", "Fools Fall in Love", "On Broadway", "Hound Dog", "Stand by Me" and many more!

"Smokey Joe's Cafe" is void of any discernible plot, but is a nostalgic and fun-filled musical romp that was so successful, it ran for more than 2,000 performances on Broadway. In all, this tribute to Lieber and Stoller's music features 40 of their most-loved songs and is replete with wall-to-wall music," said Jason Oby, UHD adjunct, in the production's program notes.
