Symposium to Address Impact of Academic Advising

The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) will present its first Advising Symposium on May 2 in the Welcome Center. Faculty, advisers, student affairs, staff, and members of the UHD community are invited to discuss the positive effects that an advising collaboration can have on student success.

The UHD Advising Symposium also will offer multiple session types, including poster presentations, roundtable talks, and concurrent session presentations.

Dr. Susan Poch, assistant vice provost for undergraduate education at Washington State University, is the featured keynote speaker . In this role, she oversees academic advising and the Transfer Clearinghouse. Poch also chairs the Advising Consultant Group—representing college and advising units—and the University Academic Advising Executive Council, which oversees all campus advising.
