Symposium Examines Legacy of Henrietta Lacks

The Sociology Program and the Cultural Enrichment Center are hosting the symposium, "Awareness of Health Disparities in America: The Sociological Legacy of Henrietta Lacks," from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Cullen Robertson Auditorium.

The presentation will be given by Dr. Lovell Jones, director of the Dorothy I. Heights Center for Health Equity & Evaluation Research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Henrietta Lacks was an African-American woman who was the unwitting source of an immortal cell line used for medical research.
