Students Stuff Easter Eggs for Homeless Kids

UHD students gathered in the Student Activities Lounge on Wednesday, April 4, to dye and stuff Easter eggs with candy and treats in preparation for egg hunts at the House of Tiny Treasures, a preschool program for homeless children.

Later that day, students from the Departments of Criminal Justice and Urban Education hosted three Easter egg hunts at HTT, one for toddlers, one for older children and one for their siblings.

According to Paulette Purdy, College of Public Service administrator and HTT advocate, UHD students really came through this year.

"It's so great to see these students doing something special for those little children," she said. "In addition to the eggs we filled here, the UHD Cadets also collected over 1,100 pre-filled eggs and household items for HTT. Their generous efforts leave me speechless."

In addition to students, UHD President William Flores stopped by the Lounge to offer words of encouragement and help with egg dyeing.
