Students Intern with Texas Turkish American Chamber of Commerce

Several UHD students, who have served as interns to the Texas Turkish American Chamber of Commerce (TTACC) Houston office, have now completed their semester-long work with the Chamber.

TTACC started an internship program with business colleges of local universities and four UHD students were selected to participate. Each intern worked on two different industries relevant to the TTACC, conducting research on their selected industries and arranging meetings to make connections between Turkish and American companies. They also learned how to organize events, maintain databases, create newsletters and use social media.

The students and their industries were:

  • Yani Hanisleydis: Food & Health Tourism
  • Ayse Nur Yuksel: Renewables (Wind/Solar/Hydro) & Textiles
  • Johnny Hendi: Renewables (Wind/Solar/Hydro) & Textiles
  • Dulce Garcia: Shipbuilding & Machinery

"These UHD students are demonstrating what is possible in an increasingly globalized world," said Adolfo Santos, Special Assistant to the President and Chief Liaison Officer. "Our students are doing some fascinating work, bringing together American and Turkish companies. In the process, this exercise is giving our students an opportunity to build a network of business associates that will serve them well, once they graduate."
