Students Enjoy Seminar from Praxair Expert

Engineering technology and Scholars Academy students watched a presentation on Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) from Rajeev Limaye, Director of Advanced Control System Engineering for Praxair, Inc., on Friday, April 20, the second anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon Disaster.

According to Weining Feng, associate professor of engineering technology, SIS is one the of most active and important areas in process control and safety engineering. During his seminar, Limaye introduced the concepts of SIS, its applications in various industry sectors, relevant industry standards, analysis and implementation methods of SIS, and concluded with career preparation and advancement of functional safety engineers.

Praxair, Inc. is the largest industrial gases company in North and South America, and one of the largest worldwide. The company produces, sells and distributes atmospheric, process and specialty gases, and high-performance surface coatings.
