Students, Administrators and Faculty Attend Global FoodBanking Network Event

Honors students and members of the UHD administration and faculty attended the Welcome to the World's Fare-The Global FoodBanking Network event this week at the Asia Society Texas Center.

The Gobal FoodBanking Network (GFN) is an NGO working to alleviate hunger through the development of food banks around the world and located in 25 countries. The community was invited to attend a reception that served to highlight the magnitude of hunger that attendee countries face and what responses local social entrepreneurs have developed or are pursuing to address this need via food banking.

Honors students from UHD were invited to network with community leaders and learn more about serving their communities through food bank efforts.

In attendance from UHD was President Bill Flores; Dr. Noel Bezette-Flores, director of the UHD Center for Public Service and Family Strengths; Wesley Wells, transfer counselor; Gene Preuss, associate history professor; and Mari Nicholson-Preuss, interim director for the UHD Honors Program.
