Student Organization Hosts Events for Welcome Week

One UHD student organization has made welcoming new students its mission. The Welcome Week Koordinators group is hosting several events during the first week of the fall semester to welcome students to the UHD campus.

The Koordinators will test students' knowledge of the University in a gameshow-style contest called Are You Ready to be a Gator from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in room A300, Academic Building. Questions are general knowledge and students can win giveaways for correct answers.

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, the Koordinators will host a scavenger hunt in which students receive passports containing clues to various University departments. Upon completing the hunt, students are entered in a drawing for an Apple iPad. The fun will last from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and check-in will be at the Ticket Booth area, third floor, Academic Building.

The traditional Pizza-With-a-Prof event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in room A300 of the Academic Building. Students can mingle with faculty members while enjoying a delicious pizza lunch.

On Thursday, Aug. 25, the Koordinators invite all students to visit the Office of Student Activities and Events, room S204, One Main Building, to learn more about student organizations. There will be representative from various student groups available to answer questions and provide membership information.
