Statement on Decision Regarding International Students
As you are aware, there has been much discussion among lawmakers and universities regarding the requirements for international students to remain in the U.S. this fall. Federal officials have agreed to allow international students with F-1 visas to continue online courses while retaining their visa status. This decision is welcome news to all of us at UHD and to institutions of higher educations across the nation.
At UHD, we value our international student population who are a valuable and vital part of our Houston community. The decision to rescind the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) previously announced guidance that would require international students to take in-person classes in order to remain in the U.S. will support many students who are continuing their academic journeys at UHD or other colleges and universities.
While this is indeed good news, all of us at UHD will continue to learn more about this developing situation and will provide additional guidance to our international students. Additional details also are available by contacting internationaladmissions@uhd.edu.
