Siemens Recognizes UHD for Collaborative Partnership

In April, Akif Uzman, interim dean of the College of Sciences and Technology, and Weining Feng, associate professor in Computer Science and Engineering, attended the Siemens Oil and Gas Conference, where UHD was recognized for the University's relationship with Siemens. Uzman and Feng were special guests of Siemens at this industry event, which provided an in-depth look at how new innovative automation and drive technologies are solving key manufacturing challenges facing the oil and gas industry.

During the events' keynote address, Wolfgang Rubrecht, Siemens vice president of Automation, recognized UHD's commitment to equipping students for the challenges of today's workforce in oil and gas technology. With Siemens' partnership, the University's Control and Instrumentation Engineering Technology (CIET) program is preparing students for success in careers with Siemens and many of their partner companies.

Scott Sorensen, a UHD alumnus and target account manager at Siemens, also attended the event and has been instrumental in the development and strengthening of the connection between Siemens and the University. Recently, Sorensen brought Michael Nuber, a Siemens vice president who was visiting from Siemen's world headquarters in Germany, to UHD for a tour of the CIET Lab.
