Registration Open for Three-Day On Course Workshop

On Course Workshop Flier 3-DayFaculty and staff are invited to RSVP before April 8 to reserve a spot and secure materials for the upcoming On Course Workshop sponsored by the UHD Comprehensive Student Success Program (CSSP) Grant. This will be a three-day workshop from May 8-10 covering strategies for helping students become active, responsible and successful learners. Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day of the workshop.

The workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day in C100, the Commerce Street Building. An optional evening session will be from 6-9 p.m. on the second night.

The On Course I Workshop is a learner-centered professional development event designed to provide you with dozens of innovative strategies for empowering your students to become active, responsible and successful learners. This is the same workshop offered at conference centers across the country.

These learner-centered strategies—representing best practices from innovators in higher education, business, psychology, sports and personal effectiveness—help students become full and active partners in their own education.

Strategies presented in this workshop improve both student academic success and retention. View data from a number of colleges and universities at www.OnCourseWorkshop.com.

Who should attend? This On Course professional development workshop is designed for...

  • Faculty from all academic disciplines who would like learner-centered instructional methods for engaging students as active learners and full partners in their education.
  • Instructors and coordinators of Student Success and First Year Experience courses who want effective strategies for empowering students to achieve greater success in college and in life.
  • Counselors, retention specialists, TRIO personnel, and student support services professionals, especially those who work with students in classes or workshops and those who desire innovative strategies for helping students overcome personal and academic barriers to their success.
  • Administrators who seek a comprehensive program for improving retention and student academic success across the curriculum, one with extensive data to prove its effectiveness.

Space is limited so please RSVP soon by sending a message to dementg@uhd.edu. All faculty and staff are welcome to register until the event is full. Priority will be given to those available to attend the full three-day workshop (not including the optional evening session) so please indicate availability in your RSVP.
