Registration and Advising Fair a Huge Success

By: Mary Ann Cozza

UHD's Registration and Advising Fair, held Nov. 7, was a huge success! More than 600 students attended the event and received assistance and around 475 course registrations were processed - making it the most successful Registration Fair to date!

The event was a great collaboration between various departments and colleges - advisors from the colleges were present to advise and grant course approvals, Registrar's Office staff assisted with registration, and other departments such as Sports and Fitness, Career Services, Veterans Services and Student Activities, among others, were present to lend a helping hand.

"We look forward to assisting more students in the future," said Cynthia Santos, registrar and interim director, Enrollment Services. "Registration for Winter 2012 and Spring 2013 is now underway with Priority Registration for declared majors taking place this week. Registration for all students in general opens on Tuesday, Nov. 20."

According to LaKeidra Gilford, event coordinator and manager of student records, she was pleased to see students taking advantage of this "major opportunity."

"We were offering on-the-spot advising and registration, door prizes and photo keepsakes, food and free t-shirts for registering early," she said. "I was pleased to see students waiting for the event to begin, because it seemed like they were really excited about it and thought it was too good to be true."
