The Provost Search Committee has announced that three finalists for the position of the Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Provost at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) are visiting campus in early November, and the UHD community is invited to meet these finalists during Open Forums.

The Open Forums will be held from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. in Robertson Auditorium per the following dates:

• Monday, November 6: Mark Anderson
• Wednesday, November 8: James Hinterlong
• Monday, November 13: Deborah Bordelon

The three finalists are the result of a national search, which garnered more than 140 applicants. Provost Search Committee chair Dr. DoVeanna Fulton wants to encourage the University community to attend the Open Forums and to also provide their feedback about each candidate via an electronic post-visit survey that will be available on the Provost Search website following each visit.

"We have reached a significant milestone in the Provost Search; and we are eager for our faculty, students, and staff to meet the finalists," said Fulton, dean of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. "We believe these three finalists possess qualities that will work synergistically with our leadership to advance the success of our students and institution."

The Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the University and works collaboratively with the president, vice presidents and deans to further the academic mission of the institution and the success of its students and faculty. This position oversees the UHD's Division of Student Affairs, which includes enrollment management and the services, programs and activities designed to augment and enrich the academic experience of students and their success.

Alumni representatives played an active role in the search process for our next Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Provost. Two alumni representatives served on the Provost Search Committee: Miriam Morales, director of strategic analytics at Memorial Hermann Hospital System and Fred Williams, senior vice president of Salient Partners LP, while others participated in breakfast's hosted for each candidate throughout the process.
