Provost Search Committee Update: Five Finalists Selected for Campus Forums

Dear UHD Community,

The Provost Search Committee is pleased to announce that we are narrowing the candidates for the University of Houston-Downtown’s next Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost. We have invited five finalists for on-campus visits within the following few weeks.

It goes without saying that this search is very important to the future of our campus. The successful candidate will hold an instrumental position as UHD implements its new strategic plan, forges bold paths for faculty and academic programming, and supports an institution on the rise.

We have scheduled open forums to allow UHD students, faculty and staff an opportunity to meet the candidates. The campus community is invited to attend the forums virtually or in person; however, if possible, we encourage you to participate in person so that each candidate has an opportunity to experience our rich community.

Visitation Dates:

February 1 - 2
Alberto “Bert” Ruiz, Ed.D.
University of Louisiana at Monroe
Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Excellence
VP Academic Affairs
Monroe, LA

February 3 - 4
Ralf Peetz, Ph.D.

Associate Provost
Undergraduate Studies & Student Success
Professor
Staten Island, NY

February 7 - 8

Sr. Advisor to the Provost

February 14 - 15

February 16 - 17

Deputy Provost & Vice Provost for Academic Programs
San Bernardino, CA

Open forums for each candidate will be held on the second day of their campus visit from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Wilhelmina Cullen Robertson Auditorium (A350).

For parties participating remotely, please register in advance. An invitation with a registration link will circulate via email prior to each visit. Following the open forums, attendees will have the opportunity to share feedback with the search committee via a Qualtrics survey.

Links to their Curricula Vitae will be available on UHD’s Provost Search webpage prior to each visit.

Since this decision will create a lasting impact on every member of the Gator Community, it is crucial that we have excellent attendance at each open forum. Please make time to attend as many forums as possible and encourage others to do so.

Thank you in advance for your participation and feedback as we move into this final phase of selecting our next Senior Vice President & Provost.

Respectfully,

Judith Quander, Ph.D.
Chair, UHD Provost Search Committee
