President's Message - Happy Holidays!

Greetings Gators,
I would like to extend Holiday Greetings to you and your families on behalf of the University of Houston-Downtown.
2021 has been a transformative year, particularly this semester. During the fall term, we welcomed more students back to our classrooms and resumed University traditions such as Homecoming, the State of the University Address, in-person Commencement and many others. We did so through your diligent efforts in keeping our campus safe.
While COVID-19 continues to test our mettle, I truly hope you unwind and enjoy time with family and friends during the winter break. After all the hard work faculty, staff and students have put into making this another successful semester, you’ve earned it.
I encourage everyone, however, to be mindful that we’re not out of the woods regarding the pandemic. Please enjoy your holidays safely so you’ll be ready to start 2022 anew. And be assured that we will continue to monitor Omicron and notify you if there will be a need to make any adjustments to the spring schedule or instructional modality.
As a reminder, the campus closes on December 24 and will reopen on January 3, 2022. When we return, I look forward to a robust spring semester. We have much planned for our UHD Community that I’m excited to share with you and take part in after we start the new year.
Have a great break, Gators. I’ll see you in 2022!
Sincerely,
Loren J. Blanchard, Ph.D.
President, University of Houston-Downtown
