President Flores Travels to Turkey to Foster International Relationships

As president of one of the region's most diverse higher education institutions, Dr. William Flores believes strongly in creating exchanges with international universities, business and leaders in order to provide UHD students with connections and educational opportunities that span the globe.

Because of this, Dr. Flores recently self-funded a trip to Turkey to evaluate the possibilities of creating these international relationships with Turkish educational institutions and businesses.

Dr. Flores welcomed other like-minded professionals to invest in this endeavor and was joined by Viola Garcia, department chair of the Department of Urban Education, and Alvin Sallee, visiting professor of social work.

During the trip, Dr. Flores traveled to Istanbul where he visited several secondary schools and universities, met with journalists and locals to discuss Turkish education and current affairs, and toured several historical sites, including the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Underground Cistern. The group also visited the region of Cappadocia in central Turkey, renowned for its exceptional natural wonders and historical significance.
