President Flores Travels to Norway for Nobel Prize Mission

Dr. Flores recently traveled to Oslo, Norway in order to serve as a representative for the UH-System at the nomination of Fethullah Gülen for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Gülen is a Turkish author, educational activist, opinion leader and preacher emeritus whose commitment to tolerance and altruism has inspired millions to work for peace. The University of Houston is home to the Gülen Institute, which was established in Oct. 2007 and is a non-profit research organization dedicated to the promotion of peace and civic welfare.

Recently, Gülen was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and President Flores, along with Ira Colby - dean of UH Graduate College of Social Work, was invited to visit Norway and meet with the Peace Research Institute Oslo.

Dr. Flores also visited area schools and gave a presentation on "Immigration, Integration and Inclusion."
